DIVINE STORIES
For the first time in Prague!
Wolfgang Beltracchi
Wolfgang Beltracchi lives and works in Switzerland. In his exhibition, Divine Stories, he presents his latest paintings and sculptures for the first time in Prague. His works are highly sought after by private collectors.
Does the name Beltracchi sound familiar—perhaps in a different context?
The Prague exhibition is uniquely and fascinatingly relevant because Beltracchi was convicted of art forgery in 2011 and only then launched a successful worldwide career under his own name.
His forgeries managed to deceive even the most seasoned art experts and were exhibited in prestigious international collections and museums. Rumour has it that some of them may still be there today, undetected.

HELENE AND WOLFGANG BELTRACCHI INTRODUCing
DIVINE STORIES
7. 5. – 25. 9. 2026
The exhibition presents a collection of over eighty of Wolfgang’s recent works in the magnificent main halls of Prague’s historic Art Nouveau building, Obecní Dům (Municipal House). In addition to large-format, captivating paintings, the exhibition also includes a number of fascinating sculptures. In his works, Beltracchi explores biblical stories and archetypal themes—temptation, truth, guilt, punishment, and the possibility of redemption.
Here, the artist’s unique style—based on a profound understanding of the European painting tradition—gains new and intimate depth. In the „Divine Stories“ series, Beltracchi consciously draws on the tradition of the Old Masters, whose work he has studied for many years and whom, in his eventful past, he has also skilfully imitated.
But now he doesn’t appear as an imitator; instead, he presents his own interpretations of life and art, connecting historical references with the present day.
This magnificent exhibition is a collection of artworks that are not merely beautiful objects, but also a visual meditation on modern society. Beltracchi highlights similarities between past and present and, employing timeless symbols and stories, raises questions about authenticity, truth, and morality in both art and society.
